Delicious Chocolate Mini Cakes in Flower Shapes – great for kids’ parties

"I love cooking with you Mom" she says. Specially baking! It’s just a stress buster for me  AND  for you, right? She's merely celebrated her 5th birthday a couple months back but yes she has achieved the ability of talking like a grown up already! It sometimes makes me laugh and sometimes worries me that she's growing up too fast but almost always makes me proud! You know what else makes me proud? Working with her in the kitchen and watching the passion with which she measures and pours and mixes the ingredients. I don't think I even knew how to pour a cup of milk in the pan without spilling it all over the kitchen floor when I was five but she does it like a pro and that makes my heart pump some extra blood.

Great ways to reuse GitaDini packaging

Reusing, repurposing and recycling are good habits for anyone who aspires to have a less wasteful household. The creative people behind GitaDini have designed their gift boxes and bags with that in mind. Not only is GitaDini packaging attractive, it’s also durable enough to use again and again. So rather than throw it away, consider giving packaging a second life! Here are a few ideas:

GitaDini’s OTTO Storage Stools come packed in large, sturdy tote bags. These heavy-duty plastic-bags are big and strong enough to carry just about anything: groceries, beach or gym gear, laundry (handy for residents of student dorms and New York City apartment buildings), or any other essentials of daily life. These totes are not only practical, their bright designs look great, too.

A well-organized transition to spring

Has spring finally arrived where you live? After such a cold and long winter in many parts of the U.S., many of us are breathing a sigh of relief to see spring blossoming all around. Depending on your location, spring can be the ideal time to enjoy the outdoors before the heat and humidity of summer set in. So let yourself be inspired by the warmth and sunshine to clean and organize your outdoor space.

Making the transition from months of cozy indoor living to the great outdoors requires a little preparation. Those balconies, decks, patios and yards are often a mess after a long winter, and it takes some effort and organization to make them pleasant again. How to Live in Harmony with Kids’ Toys

We adore our kids. We can’t resist showering them with toys and gifts. Nor can their grandparents. Nor can lots of other relatives and friends. And so, whether intended or not, kids these days end up possessing a lot of stuff. Gradually we notice our formerly lovely grown-up homes being taken over by games and toys, many of which have zillions of little pieces.

With a bit of organization, it’s possible to live in harmony with this kid stuff. Don’t be afraid to take back your living room – it does not have to involve a Grinch-like removal of toys. These three tips will help keep things neater without banishing all the fun from the living area.

How to Avoid Drowning in Paper Clutter

Have you noticed that even in the so-called digital world of today, we are still drowning in paper? Newspapers, magazines, catalogs, brochures, flyers, and old-fashioned mail – they continue to find their way into our homes somehow.

Some is welcome, some not so much. I’ll be the first to admit a weakness for reading material. I always carry a book, magazine or newspaper around with me and often can’t resist picking up some more to bring home.

But what comes in must go back out again eventually, or a mountain of paper will grow. Following a very simple system of sorting, reading and recycling will help you avoid clutter and still enjoy your reading material. By getting the paper flow under control, the important things won’t get lost and the unimportant things won’t pile up.

How to Organize Your Entryway - Even in Winter

A home’s entryway can be a cluttered, hectic space at the best of times. We’re often dashing through it in a rush to get somewhere: pulling on outerwear while searching for keys, an umbrella or a matching pair of gloves. It’s not a space we tend to linger in, but it is the first thing we see when we come home again.

Wintertime just makes things worse. And this extraordinary winter has surely been a particular challenge! Coming in from the cold, where to stow all those boots, coats, hats, scarves, mittens and other winter accessories?

In an ideal world, maybe things get hung up, or maybe they are tossed in a closet. Or – let’s be honest – maybe they pile up on a chair or the floor until it’s time to go back out again. But sorting them out and searching for a missing glove can be a real hassle when you’re late for the bus.

If this sounds familiar, there are a few easy ways to make your home’s entryway tidier and more efficient. This is good practice any time of the year, and especially helpful in winter.

The OTTO Story

We’re inspired to create products based on our own experience. New ideas come to us all the time! Products we would find useful in our own home. Products we think our kids and friends would love, too. But in reality, the path from idea to product takes time, testing and experience.

The GitaDini OTTO is a good example of how our patience and perfectionism led us – eventually – to what we think is a great product.

We’ve always loved ottomans – the ultimate in flexible and portable furnishings. But traditional ottomans can sometimes look stuffy and, dare we say it, old-fashioned. We wanted to modernize the ottoman concept and make it multi-functional, fun and appealing to all ages. What’s more, we wanted a product that is designed and made in the USA, yet still affordable. The result? OTTO.

Caramelized Pressure Cooker Carrot and Parsnip Soup

A very happy new year to all our readers! We start 2014 with a great recipe from Zack, an avid foodie who shares his recipes and kitchen experiments on the food blog Mama Tommy's. He is also a very good friend of GitaDini and a so-called "Early Adopter" - meaning he's tested all the GitaDini kitchen gear and gives us feedback on how to improve our designs. He loves the Stacko Serving Stand and uses it regularly to entertain friends at dinner parties.

He likes using the Stacko Serving Stand for soups, such as the Caramelized Pressure Cooker Carrot and Parsnip Soup. Soups are perfect for this time of the year, both for warming up and also for shedding a few pounds you might have added over the holidays. This recipe contains quite a bit of butter so you might have to adjust it for a leaner version.

In addition to the recipe he also shares his new found love of pressure cookers in this blog post. Gita, the designer of all GitaDini kitchen items helped him pick his pressure cooker and in return we're allowed to share his recipe! Enjoy!
